"Priced to sustain sovereign infrastructure, not to maximize extraction."
We believe pricing should be transparent, fair, and designed to keep communities sustainable - not to extract maximum value from users.
Our pricing is simple: Base + Modules + Storage = Your Price. No per-seat fees that punish community growth. No surprise charges. A community of 50 pays the same as a community of 5 - because we believe growth should be celebrated, not taxed.
Larger organizations pay more so families and small communities can pay less. Business tiers fund the stability of Community tiers. This is deliberate: those with greater capacity contribute more to sustain the infrastructure that benefits everyone.
We commit to keeping effective per-member pricing below €2/month at realistic usage bands. Currently, our per-member cost ranges from €0.15 to €1.20 depending on tier and community size. Compare this to €5-15/user/month charged by typical SaaS platforms.
We will never introduce surveillance, data resale, or dark patterns to make up for low prices. Our revenue comes from subscriptions, not from selling your data or attention. This is enforced by architecture, not just policy - there are no tracking pixels, no ad networks, no data brokers.
Community tier increases are limited to inflation + 2% maximum per year. Early adopters who believe in us get their rate protected. We won't bait-and-switch you with low introductory prices that skyrocket later.
Large groups don't need large Villages. Anthropologist Robin Dunbar found that humans maintain approximately 150 stable relationships - which is why Village tiers max out at 50-200 members. A 1,000-member community can become 20 federated Villages of 50 members each - maintaining intimacy while gaining sovereignty. Federation lets Villages connect through bilateral agreements, sharing events, news, and conversations across boundaries. This distributed model is more resilient, more private, and aligns with how humans actually form communities.
These aren't marketing promises - they're architectural decisions baked into how Village operates:
Flat-rate means we succeed when you grow, not when we extract more from each user.
Self-hosted services mean your data never leaves infrastructure you control.
Cross-subsidy is explicit policy, not hidden in complex pricing tiers.
We target 70-85% margins - enough to sustain, not enough to exploit.
NZ-based company offers local pricing advantage to home market.
Nonprofits and hardship cases get reduced rates - privacy is a right.
Transparent pricing that reflects these principles.
