Koha — Support This Project

MySovereignty.digital is independently funded. Your voluntary contribution helps us build privacy-respecting infrastructure for communities worldwide.

Understanding Koha

Koha (koh-hah) is a Māori practice of reciprocal giving that maintains and strengthens relationships. Unlike a transaction, koha recognizes the mutual bond between giver and receiver — affirming shared humanity and interdependence.

When you offer koha to support this work, you participate in building something together. In return, you receive:

The spirit of koha is not about the amount, but about maintaining balance and mutual respect. Your koha sustains this work; this work serves you and the broader community.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do you use the term "Koha"?

Koha is a Māori practice of reciprocal giving that maintains relationships. We use this term to honor the indigenous wisdom of Aotearoa New Zealand, where our lead developer is based, and to acknowledge that community tools should be rooted in values of relationship, mutual care, and respect — not just transactional exchange.

Is this tax-deductible?

We are currently operating as an independent project, not a registered charity. Contributions are not tax-deductible at this time. You will receive a receipt for your records.

How do I pause or cancel my monthly koha?

You can manage your subscription using the "Manage Your Subscription" section above — just enter your email and you'll be taken to a secure portal where you can update payment methods, pause, or cancel anytime. No questions asked.

What currencies do you accept?

We accept 10 major currencies: NZD, USD, EUR, GBP, AUD, CAD, JPY, CHF, SGD, and HKD. You pay in your chosen currency, and we track both your original currency and NZD equivalent for transparency reporting.

Can I give koha just once rather than monthly?

Absolutely. Both one-time and ongoing koha are welcome. Click "One-Time Koha" at the top of the form to make a single contribution of any amount.
